SOCIAL SECURITY LAW: Former LA Social Worker to Spend 4 years in Prison for Identity Theft
Los Angeles- A former eligibility employee of LA Department of Social Services was sentenced to four years of imprisonment for committing identity theft and filing of false claims on Monday.
The Los Angeles District Court ordered the verdict after a four-month evaluation on Trang Van Dinh's identity theft case.
According to reports, Dinh filed federal tax returns, tampering on the identity of 197 US citizens, to solicit $ 2 million refunds. He accessed the Social Security names and numbers of the qualified members, and filed fraudulent claims.
He had collected $1.2 million from the Internal Revenue Service. The Los Angeles District Court sentenced Dinh to 46 months of jail time.
