Nearly 800 SS Numbers of BYU Students Possibly Leaked

Utah – Former and current students of Brigham Young University (BYU) are at risk of having their personal information exposed after about 800 SS numbers were possibly leaked, reports said.

According to an article published by The Universe, the university’s student publication, the database, in which the said private and personal information are listed, had been illegally accessed on June 10.

According to the article, “there is no evidence that the second database with personal information was accessed; however the opportunity was available.”

Joe Hadfield of the University Communications has already said to the publication that “action was taken within 24 hours after the unauthorized access was detected.” Moreover, the Registrar’s office has likewise taken measures to make sure incident will never happen again.
